ADDING COLOR TO YOUR KITCHEN

Your kitchen is often the heart of your home, a place where everyone just seems to naturally gather, so you want to make sure that you bring a bit of your own personality into the space. One great way to do that is with color. Here are a few tips for adding color to your kitchen:

Add a Colorful Light Fixture

Light fixtures can bring a pop of color to your kitchen, while also providing additional task lighting. With so many different styles and colors to choose from, the sky is the limit. Choose a fixture with a tinted glass, or colorful hardware, to complement the space.

Create a Statement Backsplash

The backsplash behind your sink or stovetop is a great place to bring more color into your kitchen. You could choose a colorful ceramic tile or even a painted backsplash that complements the color of your kitchen wall or appliances. It also gives you something lovely to look at when you’re doing the dishes or cooking, and can function as a bold focal point in your kitchen.

Paint Your Cabinets

Painting your cabinets a bold color is a great way to refresh an old kitchen, or bring a new kitchen to life. It’s also an economical way to add a personal touch. Be sure to choose a glossy finish so that it is easy to clean.

Bring in Color with Small Appliances

These days, many small appliances, from mixers to coffee makers, come in fashion colors. Choosing colorful appliances allows you to create pops of color throughout the space, even if your large appliances and cabinetry are more muted.

Add Colorful Seats

Barstools and dining room chairs are another unique way to bring color into your kitchen. Whether it is a colorful metal or plastic barstool or chair, or upholstery in a bright color, pulling in color through the seating in your kitchen allows you to bring in colors or patterns that you wouldn’t normally find in kitchen appliances. Add in a few additional small accessories in a matching color to help tie the look together.

Use Colorful Fabrics

While there might not be as many opportunities to use fabric in the kitchen, fabric is still a good way to bring in color. Choose colorful dish towels that coordinate with other things in your kitchen. Cover your dining room chairs in a colorful pattern, or choose colorful window treatments, to bring warmth and color into the space. Adding in color through fabric is a great way to switch things up every season, or try out a new color you’re not quite sure of yet.

Your kitchen is a reflection of your family and your personality, so you want to make sure it represents you. Color is a great way to bring your personality into your kitchen, and help complete the dream kitchen you’ve created.
